Finally you get a chance to sit across from an inspector and get an interpretation of questions that have puzzled you for years. You will have time to sit with your peers and discuss different situations that come up on a daily basis and then have input from the inspector. How many times have you designed the perfect project - made the necessary drawings, met with the client and sold that outstanding job that made the client and you very happy - until it was delivered and the installer calls you with that "Oops". How can we eliminate these unexpected errors? With better systems, information and education. As a kitchen and bath professional that sells or designs projects, you can't afford to miss this presentation. Mark will examine pre-installation and existing conditions, field dimensions and the importance of plumb, square and level installations.

Bill Farnan Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing

Knob Hill Golf Club
Manalapan , NJ

As an organization we are always hoping for young new talent to enter the kitchen design field, but we need to encourage and promote this involvement. Bill Farnan was an independent manufacturer's representative in NJ who was behind this concept. He saw how his dealers struggled to find qualified salespeople. Bill endeared himself to all he touched and his eagerness to help makes the scholarship fund, which helps young people get involved in the kitchen industry, an honor to his name. Please come out for a day of golf and fun while helping support the scholarship fund.

Modern Plumbing Products for the Modern Age.

The main focus this evening will be on "Custom Shower Design." Let Bob take the mystery out of pressure balance vs. thermostatic valves; diverter or transfer valves vs. volume controls, GPM, PSI, body sprays, etc. Bob is an expert on air jet tubs, toilets, bidets, faucets, etc. and will be happy to answer any questions you have relating to any and all of the above. Along with Bob's interesting style of presenting what some feel are some very sensitive topics, you will be sure to be entertained while learning something very valuable in the Kitchen and Bath Design Industry.

Green Momentum

The Olde Mill Inn
Basking Ridge, NJ

The discussion will focus on Green Design in the marketplace and relates directly to a residential standpoint for the kitchen and bath designer. The "green" momentum reviews the past year and what has solidified sustainable design and invigorated its growth. Four major areas of sustainable design: energy, materials, water and air quality will be discussed. Knowledge will be enhanced of why Green is consumer driven. Participants will become familiar with specific products that make sense and work towards a balance in the sustainable home in providing good air quality, natural light, reduction of energy and using recycled materials. All of this leading to cutting edge design for the sustainable home.

To Delegate or Not to Delegate

South Rutherford , NJ

Take the time to clearly define your job. Draw a pie chart of your key responsibilities. Figure out the percentage of time you should be spending on each activity each week. Inevitably, there will be some areas that you are neglecting. Ask yourself if you can delegate these responsibilities. If you cannot or should not delegate these responsibilities, give them the time each week that they deserve. They are not something you do in addition to your job - they are your real job!

Our speaker, Eric Herrenkohn, is the author of Performance Principles, a monthly e-letter that goes out to thousands of subscribers across North America and is a contributing writer for Monster.com. Eric is an expert in recruiting and developing people. He specializes in working with the owners and leaders of small and mid-sized businesses to create a results-oriented culture in their organizations. He has worked with NKBA members to develop their hiring processes and has presented "Hiring Winners" to members of local NKBA chapters. In addition to his primary focus on privately-held businesses, Eric has worked with Fortune and Service 500 companies such as Bank of America , May Department Stores, Nestle Purina and agencies in the Omnicom Group.
